We are so amazed that my favorite time of the year is almost at an end. Tim and I love the Las Vegas Summers with the hot weather and long days. However, there is a lot to be said about the fall season. Daylight time gets shorter, the temperature cools down into the upper 90s, and the kids go back to school. That means MORE TIME FOR BEADING! YEAH!!!
Beading has become a much more diverse hobby here at Vegas Beads in the last few months. We have had very fun and exciting classes in Chain Maille taught by Sue Ripsch. Sue has taught at events like Bead and Button and Bead Fest. It’s really incredible how much you can do with a few jump-rings. Sue will be teaching again on October 18th and 19th. We’ve also had 2 in a series of classes for Kato Polyclay. Lisa Edwardt from the Las Vegas Polyclay Guild is teaching the classes here at the store the 3rd Saturday of every month. Check our website for dates and times for this class. Even though the series of classes build on the previous class, she is taking beginners on the same days as the regular classes. Just sign up and she will arrange to come in some time prior to the class to get you up to speed. It’s FUN and kind of MESSY and the results are FABULOUS!!! Then, on the weekend of December 6th and 7th we are fortunate to have Don Norris coming back to teach his initial SILVERSMITHING class. Please check the Vegas Beads web site for the times and prices of these classes.
Tim and I went to the Pasadena Bead Show for the 1st time in August. We went to check things out not intending to shop, but of course that was just silly. We found some really fun and colorful GLASS STARFISH pendants, as well as some GLASS LEAFS and BUTTERFLYS. Also we found some very pretty Labadorite and Amethyst round beads. We were really surprised and impressed how nice the show actually was. Then Tim and I walked all over downtown Pasadena, then took the train to down town Las Angeles to the Jewelry District where we walked and walked. Finally we got back on the train to Pasadena and stopped in China Town and walked and walked. Finally I told time my feet hurt and we went back to our hotel in Pasadena where we rested for a while and WALKED to dinner. My feet are STILL hurting!
I just wanted to finish up this month’s letter by saying HELLO to my Aunt Tootie one of my biggest fans and my Godmother. Aunt Tootie lives in a rural area of central Missouri and looks forward to our newsletter each month. Hi Aunt Tootie, we love you!
We hope everyone has a great month. Don’t forget to check out our web site at www.vegasbeads.com for class info and to order on line. Hope to see you all at the store!
Sincerely, Tom, Tim, Rita, Becky, Sharen and Farouk!
